Step 3 of 4

Set grammar preferences

Choose your English variant, punctuation style, and formatting rules.

Open the Grammar & Punctuation tab to set the rules Thomas follows when writing for your brand.

The Grammar & Punctuation tab showing options for English variant, Oxford comma, quotation style, and more
These rules apply to every article Thomas writes

You can configure:

  • English variant — British English, American English, or another variant. This affects spelling (colour vs color) and phrasing.
  • Oxford comma — whether to use a comma before "and" in lists (e.g. "red, white, and blue" vs "red, white and blue").
  • Quotation style — double quotes ("like this") or single quotes ('like this').
  • Dash style — em-dashes (—) or en-dashes (–) for parenthetical asides.
  • Emojis — whether Thomas can use emojis in your content.
  • Heading case — title case (Every Word Capitalised) or sentence case (Only the first word capitalised).
  • List formatting — how Thomas formats bulleted and numbered lists.

As you change each setting, look for the inline preview annotations — they show you exactly how the rule will look in practice.

If you're not sure about some of these, leave the defaults. You can always come back and tweak them once you've seen a few articles.

These grammar preferences are saved with your voice and applied automatically every time Thomas writes for your brand.
